Skypony and others on the forum….thank you so much for sharing your lives and activities! I’m 80 years old, don’t get out as much anymore, and have learned so much from all of you. I feel I have a whole bunch of new friends that each day I look forward to hearing what’s going on in your lives. And, you have pointed me to resources about which I would otherwise have no knowledge. Hopefully, Daisy will keep this forum going or some similar challenge for us in the New Year.
My number 3 son suggested that not only should I think of new goals, but I should speak those goals out loud and then write them down. As my body has aged, I tire more easily so having specific goals helps me stay focused on living, not just surviving. Today, I will write down my 2019 goals which definitely will include continuing my gardening efforts. And, continuing to learn from other preppers!!! Perhaps this might be a place where I can list my goals and then the group can keep me accountable? 🙂
Today, my granddaughter who has regularly helped me with house keeping for the past couple of years is here for the last time before she leaves for France. She will be spending 5 months in a boarding school studying French and other courses required for high school graduation. She has studied French since the 5th grade and should have adequate language comprehension to do well. However, speaking only French 24/7 should bring a level of fluency only language immersion can provide. As it is an international school she will be meeting other students from many different countries and cultures. Her older sister did this several years ago so we are familiar with the routine. I, however, am going to miss her help terribly.:)
Before today is over, I shall do some financial planning for the year. Fortunately, I have managed to be debt free in these late years of my life and am grateful for my circumstances….modest but certainly adequate. More importantly, I think are the life skills I have developed and can implement if necessary (gained from my depression era parents, and years of practice being a single mother who managed to raise three sons who’ve chosen to live their lives wisely). Today, I’ve already had an opportunity to talk with granddaughter about “making do” with what we have in the house for a project I had in mind.
I’m sending all my very best wishes for all of you on this forum as we begin a New Year….a time for hope, love and joy….and may there be peace in your hearts!!!
