Well, that was amusing. We lost power today for over four hours. Since it’s doing the rain/freezing-rain dance outside (temperature is 32), I spent most of the day feeding the fire with old papers I’d put off burning for a while. I didn’t want to light the hurricane lamp because, not knowing how long the power would be off, we might need the light for tonight. If I positioned myself just right on the sofa, I could read by the light coming in the windows. So I went through old magazines, looking for recipes that looked yummy and could also be made with a minimum of ingredients when the power is off.
Power going off is nothing new here. Most folks have generators that come on automatically when we lose electricity. We have a genny but ours isn’t hooked up to do that.
So… need more lights for power off times.
