Thanks for all the tips on dehydrators. It is on my list to hopefully find at a thrift store or buy. Yes, I want to kick myself because I remember seeing a brand new one last year in the local thrift store.
Last night, I made a nice mushroom soup. U had brought back mushrooms from Kenneth Square, PA (local producer of much of the world’s mushrooms) and they were starting to go. I made it from scratch and I am adding a but more sherry to my pantry. By doing this challenge, I’ve noticed that it was some of these little things I need a bit more of in the stockpile; though I have stocked up on vineagars and they could often be substituted.
I also used some wood stove ash in the refrigerator in lieu of baking soda. Lots of great uses for wood ash. My trees are mostly hardwood, lots of maples and oaks; which makes the best wood ash (according to my very senior neighbor).
This morning, I cooked eggs and bacon on the wood stove.
