Greetings, All.
Catching up on what we have done: Jan. 4th Hubby made bread from scratch.
Jan 5: I washed and blocked by daughter’s crescent scarf. I did not pin it out as I should have because I really do not have a place for it. However, I was able to get the crescent shape and flatten the stitch increases.
Jan 6: Time to start other knitting and crochet projects. Made a headband for my husband and started on a earflap hat for Grandchild #2.
Oh, and I tried a homemade toothpaste. First I used baking soda and Coconut oil. I did not like the oily feel in my mouth and on my hands, and as the oil gets really warm the concoction drips. The second time I used just baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. The key there is not too much H30 so the mixture stays a paste. I liked the control better and the “slickery” feeling after rinsing. I do not mind the taste since it is on my teeth and not my tongue. No EO in our house yet.
Jan 7: I have spent the last few days trying to repair a set of flannel sheets. They are expensive and, being all cotton, they shrink. I undid the corners, took out the elastic, then added the cut-out corner (square) back in. I sewed an additional foot of fabric to the head and foot ends, and a bit around the top sides, so there would be more to tuck in and put the elastic back into the new corners. This took some figuring out! I also added about two feet to the top sheet. Now to send them back to my relative and see if they work. There are more at his lake house that need to be done. The repair is a lot of time for me, but a small price compared to the fun we have when we visit.
Jan 8: Time to start mittens for Grandchild #6. Will need to see Grandchild #2 to make sure the cap I made fits his big head.
Meanwhile, not part of this challenge, I am trying to cook from our freezer and spare refrigerator to empty them. Too much electricity! Will need to check my library – the internet- to see what I can find to use up all of those veggies. Just found a Vegan Sloppy Joe made with 2 pints of beans – I have lentils in the freezer and home-canned beans on the shelf.
