Checking back in, finally. I need to read all of your posts when I’m not so exhausted. Daughter had her cancer surgery last week but still has to have help even turning in bed lest she tear the stitches out. The surgery turned out to be more complicated than the doctor thought at first, but he got most of the tumor and thinks radiation will take care of the rest. Unfortunately, even with husband’s help, I haven’t been able to sleep more than 2 or 2.5 hours straight at a time because daughter needs to be turned every so often, and the pain medicine schedule is every 3 hours, and when husband gets up to take care of it, I wake up anyway š
Nevertheless.. I have actually been working on some prepping in the last few days – dejunking here and there, establishing concrete steps to meet the years’ prepping and financial goals, getting a slow start on garden planning. I am taking this week off from work to get through the most difficult time, so I actually have a quiet bit of time here and there.
We had an involuntary “dejunking” event just last night. Our house has been through several minor floods. We finally got the problem fixed, but neglected to take all the furniture off the bricks we had set it on to try and keep it dry. One of the pieces we had neglected was my husband’s dresser, which had a nice ceramic bowl and pitcher set on it (one of my preps). Well, the dog jumped off the bed, bumped against that dresser, which had somehow gotten off balance, and the whole thing fell over, shattering the bowl and pitcher set and dumping everything on top of the dresser. Fortunately, the dog escaped any harm. Lesson learned? Watch out for unbalanced furniture, and get a bowl and pitcher set of metal or wood (not doing the breakable ceramic again…)
Watching the Netflix series with Marie Kondo for inspiration on the dejunking.
