I have been out doing some mid-storm clean. My area is at about 16-20 inches with more snow falling. Weather forecast is for another 6-9, which in my higher elevation means 12-18 inches for around 3 feet total.

I am staggering my exposure as it is getting colder and windy. We are forecast for -10 getting down to -19 with wind chills forecast at 35 to 40 below. I have donned multiple layers. I am limiting myself to 15 minutes outside and as the temperature is dropping even less.

@redcarnation. I would add a hat, boots, and extra socks to your car preps. Regarding water, I take a bag of extra supplies with me whenever it is this cold. Use a cooler bag as it will help keep it from freezing. I also use a thermos.

@woodsrunner. My area is a heavily forested area. I live in a huge state park where a lot of the land is kept in a natural state. With this heavy snow and winds, I expect to lose power and plan for it. No rush on the grocery store as most of the locals are prepared. The big rush was yesterday at the dump (no trash pickup here).

@crowbar. Take care of your lifestock and stay safe!
