I’ve been canning the past two nights.  Still have more to do after work tonight.  So far I’ve got 7 quarts of chicken, 7 quarts of bone broth and 7 pints of cherry pie filling.  Last night pulled small bits of meat off the cooked chicken bones.  There’s enough of it to put in a chicken pot pie tonight.  It’s almost like a bonus meal for us.  Plenty of leftover veggies to fill up the pie with yummy goodness.  I’ll be glad when I get the last of this canning done.  30 pounds of chicken when I have to work all day takes a lot of time especially when I still have to feed the family before I get started.  This has been quite the learning experience.  In the past I’d have sent out for pizza to keep the kitchen free for canning after work. It takes a lot more planning when scratch cooking.  I pulled out the divided dishes earlier in the week and made some homemade tv dinners with leftovers.  I think I made may one or two each night.  Next time there’s a canning session planned for the evening there can still be a homemade meal without the added work of preparing a meal first.
