All this snow and ice. Burrr. We are in the North Suffolk area and normally do not get much snow but very cold. My family was from the Lynchburg, Madison Heights area. I remember as a child, we would leave to go to my grandparents house for Christmas. The snow was very deep. One time we got to the city limits and police where there and turned us away and said we could not enter into Lynchburg unless we had chains on the tires. So daddy had to turn around and head back toward another town to find chains for the car. Those were some really deep snows back then. Last time I was up that way was when one of my aunts passed. They said they haven’t gotten snow like that in a few years, seems now they are starting to get it like that again.

Speaking of those trips as a child, we were heading up to grandma’s one weekend and was on 460 when the police pulled us over. Seems our car matched the description of a man that kidnapped some children. Of course they did let us go. After that dad took old route 40. I hated that route and still do to this day. What can I say. It was so hilly and I got car sick.
