I haven’t checked in for a while.  Partly because I “fell off the wagon” and partly because I have been very pressed for time.  We have had four goat kids born since I last checked in and we have also been doing repairs and improvements to our set up.  Tonight we are having goat sausages from our male goat who went in the freezer.  He wasn’t a bad goat, but our current fences were not sufficient to keep him in and he was creating havoc and would have been very difficult to sell as he was a mixed breed, so we decided to put him in the freezer.  We are having goat sausages tonight with rice and green beans.  Last night we had leftover roast chicken and fresh broccoli and frozen corn and potatoes all made from scratch over the weekend.  My husband repaired the main goat house and all the holes the male goat had made in the building too this week-end, so the new babies are more protected from the winter weather and I helped him make another goat “house” with cattle panels and a large tarp and he has also bought more cattle panels to make a start on reinforcing both the goat enclosure and the garden, so they are both goat proof to any goat jumpers we might have in the future (hopefully!).  You live and learn with goats….We did have Burger King burgers last week…. and they tasted really awful.  We had been having take out burgers probably about twice/three times a month before this challenge.. and we stopped getting them and I started making an effort to cook more to comply with the challenge and it seems to have had the unexpected result of changing our taste buds.  Anyway we have decided definitely no more take out burgers from Burger King.  And its certainly getting easier choosing to cook from scratch. I used to do it all the time, but life seemed to just overtake me and I got lazy about it.     This week my aim is to make more cookies and more homemade bread and make some homemade toothpaste.  I am trying to make up my mind as to whether bicarbonate of soda is good to use or not for teeth cleaning.  There seem to be a lot of differing opinions about it.  I also need to buy some pea seeds from Baker Creek.  Wont be long now before planting has to start for those….last year I chose to germinate them before putting them in the garden between two pieces of wet kitchen towel in a plastic bed, otherwise they don’t seem to germinate very well when the weather is cold and damp and then when they do the heat is too much for a good crop..
