The 1st was taken up with driving to the big city airport to meet son and acquire his rig and pets. They will be housed with us while he does a one year deployment.  Not personal prepping but definitely supporting large scale prepping.  And prepping my heart – this deployment isn’t as rough as some he’s had, but it’s still tough on Mom

2nd I found a new granola recipe that I think will be a big hit.  Also researched a  “local” preparedness meeting and decided that given everything there really wasn’t anything of enough value to make a four hour round trip.  Meeting people is nice, as is learning, but I think I need to be dealing with the things before me  right now.

Today I cleaned up and put away a huge bin of plastic blocks I found at thrift store and that was half price of the thrift store price so definitely a score. One of the things I want to have is activities for grandchildren who might end up at Grandma’s if it gets too bad in the cities.  Can’t go wrong with toys that require imagination.   Also was going to can some rice to have available for quick meals, but with everything being “somewhere-who knows where?” in our transition, I don’t know where my pressure canner is.  So I’m going to cook up a bunch and just freeze it.  (Love my instant pot). It’s not ideal but part of preparation is being flexible.  And I can probably do it one handed much easier than the canning  anyway.

And I am starting to prepare myself for not being “all back to normal” in just a few weeks with this shoulder mess.  Probably my most important prep of all because I could slide into depression/despair if I don’t stay on top of it.

And although we had snow for a little bit today it is melting off the roof  — dreaming of gardens
