I doubt if I can post everyday, but I will jump in, when I can.
Feb 1, it’s time to clean out the freezer. I have two and each year I pull out the fruits and veggies from the year before and dehydrate them. It cleans the freezer out and gives me plenty of room for new garden stock and farmer’s market finds. I can any meats that are due to come out. Today, I started sweet peppers, green and yellow.
Feb 2 Today, I worked. I picked up some great deals on shrimp and crab meat. Into the freezer they go. I also got ten pounds of basmati rice half off.
Feb 3 Bean soup and rolls for supper. The hens are loving the warmth after such a cold week and I have EXTRA eggs for a change. Those go in the freezer. I did make a quiche and vacuum packed that for the freezer, also. The dehydrator now holds shredded zucchini from the freezer.
Feb 4 The zucchini is almost ready to come out of the dehydrator and, when it does, I will be putting sliced zucchini and summer squash in. I sprinkle garlic salt lightly on them and it makes a great chip for snacking..
I have gotten a couple of books that I ordered, one that was recommended in Prep Club “Making It, radical home-ec for a post-consumer world” and Tammy Gangloff’s “Dehydrated Meals in a bag”. that I had been wanting to get. I dehydrate alot and wanted more options for the future.
