Today’s prep was in the pantry. I used some of the staples to mix up a batch of pancake batter and baking mix. The first set of shelves has been inventoried. One set to go. I’ve made a list of items that we need to stock up on. I’ll be looking for sales. There’s also a set of shelves in the basement with home canned foods that needs to be inventoried. It’s not part of the regular pantry but also needs to be done. I’ve also been trying to calculate the amount of empty jars it would take to can up all the meat in our freezers in the event of a long power outage as well the amount of propane I’d need for the camp stove. If there’s no power for an extended period I don’t want to lose two freezers full of meat. Tonight I’m signed up for an online solar cooking class. I’d really like a Sun Oven but may have to build my own for now as those things are pretty pricey. It would be nice to have some experience using solar power for cooking.
