Loving Life…..whoa! So glad you were all right! Here we worried about you staying WARM but it was the icy aspect that got you. 🙁 Well, vehicles can be replaced and you’re fine. Good! [ @muffy 1938 ….she thinks we do “escapades” ! Us? Must not be toooo old then, huh?] 😉 LOL
Nanna Mike….good idea to have jars, propane enough to save the freezer stocks in and extended blackout. We’ve all thot of doing that but ….actually calculating it is important.
Lil Sister….sorry you’re not feeling well. You do seem to still get a lot done [w/ hubby cooking collards] tho. Take care of yourself and hope your medical appt will be productive.
Cosaire…we’re finding out that since we’re “never” sick, we had let certain medical supplies go extremely out of date. AND the both of us had to search and search to find the thermometer. It WAS where we thot…but slid down a bit. When ill/injured….not the time to search for things OR need to drive to the store. Esp. us old, tired folks. Good ideas.
Mama Cando….safe travels!
OldMansd….there you are. Missed your posting.
Well today was S L O W for me. Hay day really wiped me out. As expected. We continue to cook/eat from the freezers and they’re beginning to look empty. DH went to a store today. First time in 2 wks. Just the small closer one cuz he couldn’t afford the energy to go all the way into small town. Prices generally higher but less than the C-store on the highway.
Mostly he’d run out of the NyQuil-type stuff to keep him from being awake, coughing all nite. We could have worked around the rest. As long as he was there….and we have no plans to go to real grocery store til next week….he also got eggs, half gallon of milk, bread, potatoes. Goodness…he didn’t pick up anything sweet? I hope one of us gets some energy to make something then. 🙂
Tonite was again: Heat Up Leftovers Nite. I also baked about 7 potatoes. I always do more so I have something to work with for other meals if I’m using the oven. [like fried taters for breakfast] So DH ate the last of roast meat/gravy with a baked tater. I ate more of the stew…which is beginning to seem like it will last forever. Better than laboring over stove when I’m this wiped out tho.
I’d baked more bacon last nite. It’s from Ziplock repackaging I’d put in freezer years ago and lost track of it. Trying to use all of them up….cuz they do have a slightly ‘off’ taste. But still edible. We had that with our breakfast eggs.
Tonite I did walk the dog on the road…watching out for icy or sloppy patches. Since I needed two support poles, I used a carabiner to attach dog’s huge retractable leash to my waist belt and we trucked along nicely. Til I had to get us out of the way for a vehicle. I spun her in quickly and scooted into ditch but dropped one of my support poles. Dumb thing skittered down the ditch and nearly into our rhubarb area. We ALMOST made it to our driveway with no vehicles. I had to use dog for support to lower down into ditch to fetch the runaway pole. [Repurposed broom or mop handle, actually] But we arrived back in barnyard as DH was done with the rest of chores. Both of us more than ready to get into house and stay there. Got my exercise and ….stretching…for the day.
And….I did something else preppy…and can’t remember WHAT.
