Muffy….yay for you!  Really using your new ‘toys’….er, I mean TOOLS!  And they are, even if they’re also fun.  I think Nanna Mike has the good idea of being sure with O2 absorbers unless you’re going to use it up soon. The sealers remove a lot of air, but especially with jars, they obviously don’t remove all air – or jar would collapse.

O2….moisture…and light will degrade most things, of course.  So if you have any silica gel packs…even the tiny ones saved from vitamins or whatever…I’d put one of those in too for absorbing any moisture.  I always use them with any of my home-dehydrated foods.

Everyone please remember that this sealing method does not take the place of waterbath or pressure canning.  [because it’s not removing the nasty microbes with heat]  Just for things appropriate/safe for dehydrating [then sealing up] or things that are dry already like grains, sugar, etc.  I’ve heard of folks shrinking down rolls of T.P. too. [take cardboard roll out]  LOL

GrannyJ …..awwww, come back when that nasty ole flu is gone.  Pray you have a quick recovery!

OldMansd….very neat!  You’re really coming along with this leather working.  You’d be able to fix bridles and such in desperate times.  Useful skill to develop.  Straight lines…leather wiggles!

Today DH and I were just TIRED!  Feeling a bit better day by day….  Had weather here today but it kept switching from sunny to snow to sunny.  Just enough snow to make the smooooth ice hidden and treacherous.  Tried to scratch up enough dirt/grit to ‘sand’ those icy areas I found… but ground’s all locked down/frozen.   🙁  Dashed out to do chores during not-snow.   Read some prep articles.  Some political articles.  Keeping tabs on things…..

Made up another roast/taters/onions so I don’t have to cook much while TIRED.  We can heat and lunch.
