corsaire – congrats on the no amazon day!
I am currently keeping a running list for the thrift stores / yard sales so I can take a day or two each month and make the rounds to see what I find.
I use Thriftbooks.com a lot because I can put in a wish list for used books and they will email me when one comes available. For most of the books I look for, they might get in 1 every 6 months or longer, so I have to exercise patience. But I did earn a free book so I got a couple of books on dehydrating foods and cooking with them today. You only have to spend $10 to get free shipping, so it’s a pretty good deal.
You can tell we just got some money in – since we’re both freelancers, it’s really feast and famine, so after going without for several months, in the last few days I’ve bought 5 used books. That’s probably it for several months. Need to concentrate on improvements for gardening, storage baskets, and a new-to-me pressure canner in the next few months when I get enough to have some spending money (all used, of course).
Hoping to make my first run to the Amish discount grocery store on Saturday or Monday. Will see if it works out…
