Little Sister. You only need a year’s worth if you’re somewhere without access to shopping for a year. Which is always a “who knows?” type question. Even in our little area we had bare shelves at Walmart because the pass was closed due to avalanche danger for a few days. So I guess it is your decision and your consequences. I personally think if it lasts a year I better have figured out after a few weeks how to wash dishes and survive without so much consumer products.

Today my copy of Making it-Radical Home-Ec for a Post Consumer World by Coyne and Knutzen arrived from AbeBooks dot com (cheap used books and often free shipping). I think someone on this challenge recommended the book -THANKS for the recommendation as it is probably one of the best do it yourself books I’ve seen. I’ve already got a couple of recipes working. And I’ll probably keep on the lookout for extras for my kids. I am also still working on the dehydrator book
