Growing up, we never did traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
I dont mind turkey per say, but I think I like a rib roast better. -

We.eat a turkey a month here so for thanksgiving we usually let kids pick two things for mains then fill in with others. This year it’s elk roast with truffles and minI potatoes and a bison curry stew… Yeah weird kids not mine but part of tribe.

We do turkey, but I smoke them.
The difference is that we work with what is on sale, turkeys are on sale therefore they are dinner.
Thats to get something different from elk/deer/antelope. -

The only time we eat turkey is Thanksgiving. We used to have it both Thanksgiving and Christmas since it was so cheap. But now that the grandkids are grown and coming in at different times do to 3 of them living out of state, we found it easier to just have finger foods like ham biskets, shrimp tray, veggie tray, fruit and stuff like that. Though for one grandchild I still make her sweet potato casserole. She won’t let me get by without that. So since it is hard to have a sit down dinner at Christmas time the finger foods work out great and everyone loves it.
