Please note the last line.
Is this a self-made issue of hot markets, low supply and high demand?
The inability to save as the article notes?
I have heard a few of the Dem candidates declare that affordable housing is a basic human right. Ok, so then what is a realistic solution?
Personally I think the pain is self-inflicted by the towns and cities they zoning laws in order to protect property taxes they impose to generate revenue. I.e. no homes under a given sqft is allowed to be built, or they will pull in less in property taxes.
To make more affordable housing, make smaller homes. A family of three do not need a 2400sqft home.
