ParticipantAgree 100 percent unless you are an expert at desert survival like a Bedouin or Lawrence of Arabia and no pets unless they are coyotes or camels 🙂

ParticipantIf you do a little digging into her past, you will find that her choice of the desert was intentional, escaping the Kali SF Bay area.
Keeping with her prepper principles, getting a place that she could pay cash for, etc.
She has literally written a book on living and eating cheap. Worth the read.
There isn’t a place in the world that doesn’t have negatives, you just choose a place where the negatives aren’t as bad for the way you live and operate.
Good friend of mine left Bishop and moved into the Bay Area. He couldn’t afford not to.
Here in Wyoming at 7000′, we have long winters, feet of snow, can’t grow anything without a greenhouse, and even then it’s a challenge. The wind never stops, that alone drives people out or mad.

ParticipantExcuse me but the first decision one must make if one is to survive is to go to an area which is survivable, the desert is not it for it is mostly devoid of life. The only reason why people live in the desert now is due to modern technology like air conditioning and water flowing through pipes. It would be better to seek places in which people can survive without needing electricity. People have managed to survive winter in a lot of places that were cold before electricity but with the exception of nomads like the Bedouins how many people do you find in the desert? Not many.

KeymasterIs it possible to live in the desert?
Yes.
Saw it in Afghanistan. We were flying over a deep ravine, and there was a small village, could see some green trees. The water table had to be shallow.
However, other parts of the country were experiencing a severe drought. To the point a quarter of a million people left their homes in search of water.
That is when we learned to watch the snow pack over the winter months as an indicator of not only migration, but insurgent activity.-

ParticipantWell yes but those people have been doing all their lives, I was speaking of people who are not used to the ways of the desert, Prepper Princess certainly is not one of those in that video.

ParticipantOk, so film yourself doing better. Seriously.
Criticism of other people who are openly showing off their mistakes and what they learned from the same, is something to pay attention to.
I recall Selco himself pointing out various mistakes he had made in the original online course. Ever listen to that?
Aside from criticizing her choice of location, what else did you get from that particular video? Did you even watch it all the way through?
My location, the Indians did not live here year round, they migrated when the weather turned. Yet today thousands of people live in a place where the snow falls by the foot, temperatures can stay well below zero for extended periods of time, and elevation sickness is a real thing. Were it not for the modern conveniences, few can survive here. Just like the desert.

ParticipantThose people are called hunter / gatherers , they move around because they dont plant crops , that allow them to stay in one area .Unlike the natives of South and Central America , that built great empires . How am I doing better ? By just being where I am , gives me options ………….summer or winter , the ocean will feed you either season if need be . A state that is 95% forrest , gives me building materials if need be . On and on . Criticizing , or pointing out , what should have been obvious , before anything goes wrong ? Seriously , who in their right mind goes to the Sahara , pitches a tent , then is surprised when they run out of water , and wake up with a scorpion sitting on their face ? Oh but I forget , we live in a country where nothing goes wrong , the military never gets defeated , there are no bad cops anywhere , and the government is our best friend . Every area is an absolute paradise .
