This one was an interesting read.
In his closing lines, he says,

. . . we can pursue better alternatives elsewhere on the globe, as people have done in previous eras

While that sounds all good, in the day and age, unless you are a member of that 1% or have yourself fiscally liquid and with a skill that is exportable, most of us are stuck here.

Plus, I don’t think that other parts of the world are much better. This whole mess is global. I enjoy traveling and checking places out, but anyone who thinks heading to other countries will solve their problems isn’t paying attention.

I think it depends on the person, their skills and ability to adjust to a different country.
I have a friend whose husband travels to China for a few weeks at a time 3 or 4 times a year. Becuase he is in business, China gladly welcomes him. He gets around the country with no problems. Does not speak the language aside from the simple stuff, like yes, no, bathroom, airport.

I think Kurt Saxon said it best.

The world went on long before I was born , and continue to do so , long after I’m gone . I would prefer to stay in my own country ( and fight of it , if need be ) rather than roll the dice , and forever feel like a coward for leaving . This is MY country , I’m not going anywhere .
