Lack of empathy?
Or people can only take so much?

Look at war zones…. hard to care when you are in reactive mode fight or flight and In between trying to feed and keep you and yours in shelter.
This is also what happens when an economy regardless of government misrepresentation is about to tank. No one has much left over after basics except few rich and they can not fix it not lost even care to. Look at Germany in Weimar era 1920 time.
The great depression in usa read beyond the headlines we are going back again because we did not learn lessons taught before. Nothing can be done to prevent now just hold.on as its going to get way worse before any kind of light at end of tunnel.

Read between what lines?
The climate and political scene in Cali is perfect for the homeless. They get their free stuff and there is nothing you can do since that would be racist and descriminating.
Take away the laws and the ability to remove them and you get this.
A lot of BS has been said, like they just can’t afford to pay rent but they want to work. I have been around a few homeless camps and the one thing that they didn’t want was a job.
Offer them a place and a job where they actually have to work and they are gone.
A friend tried charity a couple of times, food, a small place rent free, even a ride to work every day.
Guess what happened.
Those that have drive and ambition don’t remain homeless, those that do, made that choice.
Hard hearted? Just a lot of exposure to transients and bums.

I only hope Pelosi and Harris are home when the backlash goes down.
