ParticipantNice
I have been playing with electricity… sort of. Learning all about DC vs AC and of course batteries.
I finally decided on a portable power station. I chose a Lithium iron phosphate one. Not huge, just 300 watts.
Next stop, solar panels.

ParticipantFred gave us thunderstorms and rain. Looks like a bit more today, but the worst is over. Grace is on his heels however; and well she is a bit more organized. Trying to impress disheveled Fred I suppose.
The roof is done, and the rats are no longer at the elderlies house.
LittleSister I hope you are doing ok
Shoutout to GrannyjSmith also.

ParticipantDon’t get much free time since our move, remember the ole saying ” out of the frying pan into the fire” that is what it’s like here. Never have I seen such lazy kids in all my life that refuse to do anything. What am I doing about them? tearing down walls so they can’t hide how nasty they live are trashing what they refuse to pick up and put away.
DH is doing better health wise, think it’s because he is closer to family here.
Going to try and stock some extra tp and food this weekend after I get this pantry painted, really nice size pantry that will hold a lot.
Thanks

ParticipantWhoa. Things are dry here now. Except for the occasional T-storm, its sunny and of course hot
Been fighting the sinus infection from hell. Discovered the neti-pot and that has helped. Gosh cheap and effective. Nasty green gunk came out the first 2 times I used it. Put a call into the doc though as I am going into day 12 and still feel like I have been hit by a truck.

ParticipantI got the floors jacked up as they were sagging in 3 places. So all is good and will hold a lot of weight now. Turned the small bedroom into a full on pantry now. I don’t have a pantry, and the kitchen cabinets will not hold it all. Hit some sales today to add to what was low. Going to try to get things together so I don’t have to leave house. Getting the fireplace worked on soon as well as new security storm doors on the doors. They need replacing and I think the security doors would be the better option. I am hoping I can hold out here for at least 2 or 3 years and then move to country with DD. She wants me to move there. She has 2 and a half acers of land and is on well and septic. Hoping to find a place close enough to her that we can have a much larger garden, chickens, pigs and a milking cow. DD is already watching for a place.
Corsaire, I hope your sinus infection clears up soon. They can be rough.
I think we are about to get all that rain from the storms. Rain at 80% tomorrow. So will see what happens.

ParticipantThanks everyone
Doc said its probably viral. Went off to get a some decongestants and antihistamines. Walmart requires a drivers license to get Claritin-D. And there was some sticker shock. I looked at Childrens claritin chewables and the 30 count is $21.00.
Looked at the list of medical supplies.Pretty much gauzed out as I gradually picked it up when on sale. Will pick up more OTC meds as thats where I am clearly lacking.

ParticipantI have also noticed that OTC’s are going up. Will be heading to drug store to buy things I am low on. Went through a lot of vitamins over the past year. Mostly, D3, zinc and Vitamin C. Ordered those on line as they were cheaper. Will be checking out other things for colds, etc. that I am low on and get them restocked next week.
I am looking into maybe having a wood burning insert put in fireplace. Seems the wood burns slower and will make the wood pile last much longer. Though I would like to have it where I can put a cast iron pot in there to cook with. But will see how it goes. Need to check some things out first.
Got things put away after they jacked up floor and packing up things I am no longer going to keep as I haven’t used them in years. Led chrystal glasses, etc. These were things from the china hutch. That will give me room for things I do use. Need the storage and that would help.
Garden is about done and just waiting for cooler weather to start pulling everything up and getting things ready for next year. Not going to do a winter garden this winter with so much going on with the house. Will be going full on with garden next spring.

KeymasterWife had to pick up a Rx (for the dog) and it is cheapest at Wal-Mart.
While waiting, she picked up some more medical supplies.
But she noted that there were huge gaps, and empty shelves. We also picked up a bulk meat order and filled the chest freezer.

Lots of gaps
Medication
zero canning goods
Meats
household items
hunting/camping
water“They” are about as aware of it as they were on the fall of Afghanistan. The disconnect between the classes is widening. Just like the stuff I’ve posted on health care where some get treatment and the remaining ignored it’s the same with products and goods

ParticipantIts the last day of August. I am hoping we can get through Hurricane season without anything.
As ya’ll probs know we are ground zero for COVID. Elderlies got it, they are fine. They though it was just a bad cold . Some friends got it and in their family symptoms ranged from the sniffles to one being hospitalized for 2 days. Will be avoiding the thrift stores for a bit as people are usually on top of each other.

Stay as safe as ya can. I went in today and there was no less than 75 vehicles in the covid testing line at the store.
I drove past and looked and it’s mostly elderly.
y’all stay safe
