AnonymousThis seems to apply only to ham radio repeaters located on public property. Still, it is stupid to remove a free, to the government, secondary emergency communications medium. Bad precedent too. Stupid. Hams do use these repeaters everyday for their own purposes.

And now the clarification is settling into place. The lease fees only apply to repeaters in Cal Fire sponsored locations that can’t document how they’re connected to emergency services.
Also note they’re now saying it’s not necessary to contact legislators or the governor’s office. Which definitely means they’ve been contacted. A lot. And the questions are starting to flow downhill from the top.

Ham radio is something I need to work on so I can be licensed for it. Been looking into it but right now don’t have the time. Hoping after the first of year I can do it. Also looking into a good set of walkie talkies. There is so much pros and cons, I am not sure which is best.
