My friends in Tennessee hooked me up with canned goods. I hauled some elk meat in from her brother and she canned it while we there except for some steaks we grilled one night 😋
I got canned elk, brats, butter, jellies, green beans, pasta sauce, potatoes and hamburger meat!

ParticipantLove elk meat we try for 2 each year but only allowed double royal males to harvest here without lottery for a cow elk.
Our deer are fattening up on sweat pea and alfalfa.

This was written by Ball Canning Supplies:
“To our followers and canning community, we want you to know that we’ve heard you. We understand your frustration regarding the challenges around finding our lids. Over the past year, we’ve had to adjust our production processes due to COVID-19. This means that we’ve set in place practices that ensure the highest standard of safety for both our employees and our retail partners; it also meant that as with other USA-made products, a lower level of available products. In the last year, we’ve also welcomed a ton of new canners to our community. As a result, we’ve increased production. Unfortunately, the combination of the pandemic and our awesome growing community has made it nearly impossible to meet the demand. In the past few months, we’ve worked to reopen our production facilities back to full capacity, have increased our production to support the growing community, and have safely implemented additional manufacturing shifts. Even though we have produced lids above a pre-COVID-19 level, it’s not enough to meet the demand of all the new and old members of the canning community.
We are working hard to get lids out as fast as we can! While we work to offer as many products as possible, please know that we’ve heard you and are trying to do all that we can in the current climate to meet your needs while guaranteeing the safety of all employees who are creating, shipping, driving and stocking our products, and maintaining our high-quality standards for the lids you love.“

Son called and found these at local Walmart
Kinda big but right now I’d rather have usable stuff with deer season coming than not given what the supply chain is

I saw some folks struggling doing dry canning with the oven trying to move the large jars and put the hot lids on using dish towels and pot holders
Use these. You won’t regret it. It’s like a BBQ glove

Walmart had 1/2 pint regular and wide mouth jars today when I took mom shopping. They had some quart too but I only picked up the 1/2 pint. They still had rings and lids combo but not just lids yet.
Looks like it’s slowly coming back. -
