I’m at the airport watching in disbelief as airline reps are urging people to pay $179 for the privilege of providing their fingerprints and iris scans to some program called CLEAR so they can cut to the front of the line for TSA screening. (And then you can pay TSA a fee for TSA Pre! CLEAR is in addition to, not a substitute for, TSA Pre.) They also promise you can cut to the front of the security line at sports stadiums.
I can hardly believe people are paying a fee to give up their biometrics. I wonder that i wasnt forced to provide biometrics when i renewed my drivers license.

Molly…unbelievable!  Giving up biometrics should be not done lightly.  It’s required for security clearances, however.  TSE Pre is not as good a deal as Global Entry– if you have a passport, Global Entry will suffice for both TSE Pre and getting through customs easily.  We discovered the Mobile Passport app on recent travel– our friends got through customs quicker than we did with Global Entry!
