My son gave me this. We try and keep a stock of charged batteries because the hand crank drills work but are sure slow in emergencies.
He uses his on remote sites without power. While not necessarily a long term SHTF unit it could prove useful in shorter events like storms.

ParticipantIntriguing- Who makes it? is it a snap on replacement 20v? Is it a battery pack charger? I don’t recognize the male pins in the first picture.
Could charge with a thermo-electric stove? https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/biolite-campstove-2-with-flexlight?ds_e=MICROSOFT&ds_c=Shop%7CGeneric%7CClothing%7CHigh%7CMen&msclkid=0811c12991781c3698ef9ec923f31745&gclid=0811c12991781c3698ef9ec923f31745&gclsrc=3p.ds
I have a nice collection of 18v DeWalt tools. Am fighting the urge to replace with 20v; I have kept all my defunct battery packs with the intent of rebuilding.

ParticipantIf you are going to get new battery tools and have the cash to spend around $5k for fu new set look in March Hilti will have expanded their 36 volt battery tools to include nut runners, non concrete drills. The battery packs last and home charge for years and the tools have same power as corded stuff. Plus a large capacity battery is lite and charges in half the time of a dewalt.
A plus on construction site is your tools look very different from other brands.
We use a concrete drill quite a bit had a battery that was sitting in wrong place for years… it was half life and still managed to put 12 8 inch deep 1/2 inch holes into a 8 inch slab in 20 mins before battery died complete. Then 20 min later full charge and another 20 holes with no issues and Power to spare. Recharge time was about the same 20 mins.
