We are near coast of VA. I know we will have rain but this one may not effect us to much. According to USA alerts it is going to hit Florida as a cat 3. It will gain strength as it goes over the warmer waters. Both South and North Carolina’s will be effected by this. The cone of the hurricane crosses into both of those states. We are prepared but are watching though we might not be effected by this one. Prayers to all in it’s path. Stay safe.

Based off the latest, it could go up the coast, it could head toward the Gulf.
Now, it increasing in strength (cat3-4), ok, that is a real threat.
Yesterday, being a Cat 1, the news was kinda over playing the emergency-ness of it. At that time.

    The latest from South Florida

As far as food Stores are cleared out. Box stores still have plywood. Generators, well forget it.

Neighbor said there was no gas, but gasbuddy is showing some stations having it.May be the higher octane though.

plywood and shutters are going up in my neighborhood now.

I think this hurricane will be a bad one.  Looks like it will hit Florida as a strong cat 4. We are at VA coast about 35 miles inland from VA Beach. We may be ok but watching closely. We are prepared. DH is going to add oil to generator as it is showing a bit low. So doing that in the morning.  Going to go top of gas tank for car as well. As far as food and water we are good on that. But I don’t think we will have anything more than some rain.  So just getting things together and at this point just watching.

But please for everyone in the path of this hurricane in Florida. Stay safe and check in when you can to let us all know you are doing ok.  Prayers going out for Florida and anywhere else this one hits.

Something that the media isnt talking about……

Ground saturation. We got it due to alot of heavy rain recently. Even with “only” tropical force winds, this can mean trees down, power lines down and roads easily and quickly flooded

“Now” and I say now cause we all know how fast things can change; its not expected to make landfall here.

Tropical storm watch is currently in effect.

Corsaire,You are right about the ground saturation. It will make it a lot easier for trees to fall, power lines going down and flooding. We are watching it close now. As it looks like it will cause a lot of rain for us. Not sure of wind yet but looking like we could be in the 10 inches of rain part of VA. Won’t hit here until Friday from what I have heard so far but subject to change. We are not in a flood zone.  Florida will still get the brunt of it but don’t think it will be as far inland as was thought earlier.  It will have 150 mile an hour winds and that is very close to a cat 5. They have already started saying on local news to pick up yards of anything that could be blown because it being a weekend and everyone will be off work. We don’t work now so just watching for now.
