This is the one we made. If you can use it for your group then please do. It’ll help alleviate issues and miscommunication.

Guard Duty Rotation
Ok for this exercise the duty will be 2 people on 2 hr rotations from 6pm to 6am which should be before dark and till sunset.

I’ve set it where your duty ends early one day, your off the next and start late the following day to give you the most time off possible from this duty.

I show two pairs in which it shifts the rotation and you should be able to set the pattern from there for 7 pairs. I’m not saying couples because you should avoid using most couples because of child care and sometimes drama.</div>

This pattern keeps anyone from getting messed over and having duty in the middle of their sleep all the time. What I saw in the military was the “favorites” got duty at the end and the start only and everyone else got messed over having to wake up.

I hope this instruction is understandable and helps.

Often in the military someone, like a squad leader, would bring me a duty roster for approval and initiation. That’s a good thing as long as it’s not manipulated. If as a leader your not good at it then find someone who is. I had a sergeant in the national guard who did it weekly for his job as a supervisor. He was good at it.

You will also need to have a replacement roster for things like sickness or other excusable absence. That’s usually going to fall on the leadership to backfill those slots. People could be out on a hunting party, doing recon, grieving from a loss etc.

This will need to be accomplished for any duty outside of that persons assigned job though jobs may require it as well.
