I found it concerning several years ago when the US govt. OK’ed the purchase of Smithfield Foods by China.  Smithfield is the world’s largest producer of pork.  It is no longer owned by an American!  Too much productive farm land is being bought up by foreign entities.  And, its not all used to continue the production of food.  In addition, its too important for the national interest to continue to allow states to determine how much can be sold to foreigners.

I have also seen articles about foreign countries buying up water rights too.
