Everyone loves carrying smaller calibers. Especially the 9mm when it comes to carry including myself. I see a ton of 380 to 22 pocket rockets.
In survival when SHTF some off things happen that make great arguments for having a solid thumper though. One of them is wild animals. In the 80s in Oklahoma when everything went belly up in oil and banks there were many exotic animal farms that just released them and pulled roots.
Recently the wildfires have brought in the bears looking for food
These events might leave the carrier of a 25 acp wanting to save the last round for themselves.
A 12 or even a 20ga with slugs is always a good option, 10mm/357 mag and above in handguns should be considered for carry in bear country and of course good rifles. If your stuck with the 9 then have a mag of ball ammo handy or look at Buffalo Bore choices
(I’ll say this as well. If your a professional packing a 9 in bear country as my backup you won’t be my guide)
So my point to all this is to consider the out of the norm events that might happen should the zoo come to you and have a plan with a solid thumper. You don’t have to go go full Burt but hey there’s worse things in life
