Hi All, I’m AlbertaMama
I’ve been prepping for years now in the Canadian Prairies, with the Rockies a short drive away. I live in a suburban area with my husband and son, who are moderately supportive of my prepping and get why it’s good to be prudent. The importance of prepping became very apparent to me during the big east coast black out that also affected the entire province of Ontario when I lived there in 2003. I started out by keeping a spare pantry about 11 years ago and have grown to learning survival and self-reliance skills like hunting, knitting, fishing, off-grid bush camping, water storage and sanitation alternatives, bug out and shelter in place plans, gardening, & a few other things. Right now I’m working on learning canning and preserving food, alternative heat sources, and alternative cooking sources. I try to stay aware of the goings on in the world while being practical about my preps. The most likely scenarios for our family are financial distress and natural disasters like flash flooding and wildfire. I’m really looking forward to sharing and mostly learning from what you all do and know to become better prepped for my family.
