Been slowly prepping officially since 2004, as part of therapy for Depression/Burnout. My psychiatrist was a firm believer in my organisational skills to overcome the blow I had suffered. We established routines and tasks like researching how to build a garden where the ground seems to be unfit, making wilderness shelters and what to do if your lost in the woods. Babysteps go a long way!
I learned about having a 72-hour kit on the ready. At first my father thought I was going crazy. Lol After a few events though, he now values the knowledge I have acquired. He even went as far as getting every one of our buildings ready for using generators instead of powerlines if/when needed. They are all double-duty built, meaning they can be converted in shelters for all our family members to stay in as well as woodworking, butchering, etc…. All of our cars have Emergency kits, EDC kits and more.
Every day brings a new opportunity to learn something new to us. We welcome all the chance we get to be as ready as possible, knowing it may never be perfect.
