This is a general question…not necessarily COVID related)
I have been trying to put together a hospital go bag that sits in wait for the day (hopefully far far away) I have to be admitted to the hospital. All of my searches bring up suggestions for pregnancy/delivery bag…I am looking for a list for a general hospital admission. Any suggestions?

If you use any kind of cell phone, e-reader, etc., pack extra charging cables, adaptors, and a power strip. A friend recently went to the ER and had to ask her husband to bring her charger because her phone ran low on battery power.

AnonymousWell, my first thought was a box of those blue gloves, several N95 masks, some bottles of water and some snack food.
A power strip is a good suggestion too, just be sure bring the appropriate chargers. However, you can buy power strips now that are primary or completely USB charging sockets. Or bring one or more of those battery units made just for several charges for USB devices, like phones and tablets.

If you are on any kind of Rx drugs, or taking someone to the hospital who is on Rx drugs, take the pill containers with you.

AnonymousHeck, just take your EDC (Every Day Carry) bag. Of if you don’t want to take all of it, then just pick and choose what you might need. If you don’t know what EDC is, then do some research on the concepts, lists of recommended items abound.

Prepper-Wannabe…this is an interesting thought. I keep a bag packed in case we have to evacuate quickly because of fire, but the hospital angle is something different. I watched a video recently of a nurse who said NYC patients being treated for COVID-10 were being denied some of the medications that were found useful (hydrochloroquine and remdesevir). She suggested telling the hospital that whatever you want to be treated with, tell them that you are taking them as “at home” meds.
If you don’t have all the bottles of Rx meds, you can use your cell phone to take photos of them.
I like the charging strip suggestion and a pen/pad. My Dad was recently in the hospital and he found his own socks to be nice to have, along some grooming supplies and reading materials.

The listerine breath strips nice when brushing is not something you can do without help
Hand cream the ac dries you out.
If you drink a lot of water like me a hydration water pack so you can sip at your leisure I have one with an online sawyer mini filter for city water.
Ear plugs as sometimes you get a noisy neighbour.
If you need special pillow have it with you just like heater pad or hot water bottle.
Nice hard candies and a dish…. amazing how many.more stops nurses will make for some sees coffee candy
Along with socks having slippers is nice as floors are cold.
Ear buds or head phones so you can use device quietly.
