    Decaying infrastructure?
    Accident?
Foreign entity or even pissed off kid with a laptop, sitting in Starbucks hacked the grid?

    You be the judge.

Right now, I’m gonna go with decaying infrastructure for $200 Alex.

One thing I have noticed, those places that are built on/by British design tend to have issues when old or overloaded.

    Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mumbai.

This isn’t a condemnation of the systems but the lack of repair/modernization in modern society. Keep adding more to the load, until it can’t keep up, then push it harder. Eventually it fails.

    Ok, Whirli, that was funny.

Whirlibird, that is true.  Though I have managed to go for 2 weeks with no power after a tornato took out the pumping station in the next neighborhood. Those on well water had no water nor electric. We had water but no power. We made out fine. Yes it was hot but we had ways to keep cool. My yard was the neighborhood hangout for several days. We all just sat around under shade trees to chat and keep cool.
