Probably not. At least in all areas. This snow storm that blanketing much of North Carolina and parts of Virginia, for reference.
Currently 27 degrees here at 3:45 this afternoon. At least nine inches on the ground and apparently some more to go. Forecast for my area is either 5 to 10inches or 15 to 20inches depending on who you listen to. I would prefer none, but that ain’t happening. 190K out of power in NC. We still have power here in my section of Virginia. Hopefully it will continue. And, its not even official winter yet! Its that global warming for sure.

I might add that while we do still have power, I have filled up the bathtub in order to provide water to flush the toilets. ( I doubt I would hook up the large generator while the snow is still so heavy just to run the well pump). I have a smaller Honda 2KW that would run the refrigerators and freezer should that be necessary. Alternate heating and cooking sources available, as is potable water.

We’ve gotten 11 inches so far, according to the local reports, and are expecting another 4-6 inches.
It’s a lot of snow for this area, but I don’t know if I’d call it a blizzard. There’s no heavy wind or anything, just a lot of snow.
It’s really beautiful, and we’re nice and cozy here. It’s possible we’ll lose power, but as still as it is, it seems unlikely. Either way, we’re ready.

We are sitting at about 11 inches now. Still falling. Much more than the NWS first forecast at 3 to 8 inches. Had a much better forecast from a locally retired Air Force meteorologist who tracks this crap using multiple software programs as opposed to a single program being used by the NWS.

Welp, my daughter’s trade school is canceled for tomorrow. Looks like another lovely cozy day of bundling up and reading a book!

AnonymousThe kinder, gentler side of Winter Storm Diego left us here in the Deep East of Texas with 5 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. Yes, it’s a bit soggy out there, but we aren’t going to fuss.

Wow…I guess I haven’t checked Doppler for a while. We were at 45* today so I haven’t looked way out your way. Make good choices out there, everyone….since it’s harder to get help in these storms.

Looks like its over. Lot of shoveling to do this morning so the dogs can get out without too much effort. Our little pit’s legs aren’t long enough to keep her up out of the snow so she just hops around like a giant rabbit! I think we ended up @ 11″. Got .7 mi. of driveway to plow. Looks like above freezing temps daily for the remainder of the week.

Does your ground turn to mud and mush like mine does in those conditions?

Yep. I can drive across the yard and leave muddy tracks until some drainage occurs. We have had so much moisture that the ground will never really dry up until late spring. It really takes a toll on my road. Gravel doesn’t stay as it gets pushed down due to vehicle traffic. Gravel is getting very expensive here. Its going up 18% first of the year.

We finished up at 15 inches of snow here in SW Virginia. It’s lovely but a heck of a lot of shoveling. I forgot how much work snow is when you live in town!
