A basic understanding of supply and demand would explain that last year when the seed companies were getting stocked up for this planting season, they planned for and got ready for a normal planting season.
Record sales? Quarantine gardening? Who in their wildest dreams thought of this in July-October?
They produce too much and they lose money from stuff sitting on the shelf, going “old” and getting sold for pennies later in the season.
Too little? They lose money from sales.
How many here bought packets of seeds 4 for $1 last fall? Heck I saw that at the hardware store just a couple of weeks ago.
Are they gonna do an article on the TP shortages and how the manufacturers didn’t plan for a panic buy?
