KeymasterWelcome to July everyone!
Well, the NE Heat Dome, appears to have passed after 2 days of upper 80s, high humidity.
Thunder storms rolled through Tuesday night and on Wednesday.
Rest of the weeks highs are in the mid 70s, lows in the 50s. -

We’ve finally got some set out weather. Had a foot of rain in 7 days.
I know it’s unpopular according to special interest groups and I’m supposed to feel guilty according to the media and I should cower as POTUS hates me and I should hide as DHS fears me but I’m still a proud American so HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY on this 4th🇺🇸

KeymasterI hope everyone had a good and safe Independence Day!
Ours was very busy visiting or having friends over. And we got rain! One day, nearly 3/4 of an inch. The next, over a 1/3.
Last night rolling thunderstorms most of the night. According to our weather station, 1.37 of a inch!

ParticipantGreetings all
Just wind and rain from Elsa, so all is well. Decided on a roofer. Floridas construction industry is full of scammers and good reviews on Yelp and other sites mean nothing.
I wasnt too bright and left batteries in the fan; one leaked, so down one.Not sure about replacing it though due to the rising prices and shortages. -

ParticipantTaking advantage of the BOGOs on canned goods; figuring if I dont use them, family members will. Had the “aha” moment when it dawned on me that the family members might not have a manual can opener. Picked one up today.
A friend is now becoming dependent on me for prep things. I gave her some ideas on brands of emergency radios. Instead of looking into what I said, she just asked me to pick one out for her. Same with other items. Not good, as she needs to think and act on her own. Take the info and run with it.
I am planning on moving by the end of the year. She mentioned something about getting a duplex with me
Um, no, just no.

ParticipantCorsair, my next door neighbor said a couple of years ago, when both our husbands pass away, we will get a house together. That is not going to happen. My DH passed away in Feb. and I am not moving for at least 2 or 3 years. I am now in process of down sizing the inside of house and getting work done on house so I can sell it for top dollar when I make the decision to move. I will be moving to the country and out of VA. Took a home equity line of credit out to do some remodeling and hope to have it all paid back before I sell. Otherwise whatever I owe when I am ready to move will just be paid back from what I get from house. It is not that much, just enough to fix some things that should have been fixed long ago. This area has grown up so bad. It used to be country and now it is urban with lots of business, apts. and worse. Not to mention the traffic is a traffic jam disaster waiting to happen if we ever have to evacuate for any reason. They have put a building on so much of the farm lands now that we have to travel to get to a farm now.

KeymasterHave not been online much the past week as I had my daughter with us!
It was a great visit!
Had friends also over the weekend.
Busy, busy, great to see them, but also good to have the house back to ourselves.-

KeymasterFunny thing happened while the DD was visiting: A bat got into her room.
The wife went up with a towel, after a few tries, caught it, and gently tossed it out the window. -

Ah LittleSister, guess I am not the only one.
I plan on moving to a cooler area. The sub-tropics just isnt for me. The northern part of the state is a possibility though.
The elderlies have roof rats, so I have been helping out with that.
Supplies have been erratic all over. And gosh prices have really gone up.

ParticipantLooks like its going to drop to the upper 80s next week, with night time temps in the upper 70’s.
Some planning this week generator wise. 1/2 load 6 hours ect. Looking at what I need to prioritize. Also learning about powerbanks-the ones used for camping.

Keymaster80? For a low?
Great scott! Yeah, if we had that kind of weather, we would have to get AC, just for the dogs alone.

ParticipantHomes dont require heat in my area. AC runs 24/7 almost all year round. We pretty much hibernate in the summer.
