Like it or not, California needs a huge burn off.
The ecofreaks have prevented the cleanup of deadwood and underbrush. The only way to make it safe is to burn it off.

From the various times I have been there, they also have the problem of not only built up undergrowth, but they get their rainy season, brush, grasses explode in growth.
Then, as summer comes, the heat dries it all out to the point of kindling.
Ready to fire by spark kindling with the strong winds and you have a perfect storm of wildfires.
