Did you all see this thing about a young man kicking the crap out of an elderly lady on the subway while people just sat there and let him do it?
https://dailycaller.com/2019/03/22/woman-kicked-face-nyc-subway/
It takes a vile human being to do that but really the people who didn’t even say something to the man are also pretty bad. They didn’t even help her after the assault.
I really can’t imagine such a thing going uncontested in some areas of the country. It should really make us think what we’d do in such a situation. In NYC, where it happened, hardly anyone has a carry permit.
What would you do if you witnessed such and thing and you were unarmed?

Would depend on two things, if I had someone with me that was vulnerable, how many on other side. I would step in unless weapons involved expecially if multi person group of attackers. If it came to this it would not be verbal response only a direct action from behind if possible no sense in getting injured helping.

Its NYC. Seldom does anyone living in NYC stop to get involved. You would be lucky if someone simply called 911 for you as they walk away. The survival strategy most have learned living there is to just keep their heads down, don’t look, and walk away quickly. Its the old theory of not antagonizing the wolf hoping that they will be eaten last.

In today’s world of legal shenanigans, you expect better?
Actually doing something is racist and surely against the law.
The thug was just helping the nearly 80yo to reduce her carbon footprint to zero before its mandatory.

Same thing happens with the cops , in the 1800’s , they could depend on the townsfolk to help run out the bad guys . Now there is such a disconnect , that the citizen looks at them as another enemy to avoid .

Not sure how I’d react…..cuz I know I might freeze in disbelief. ‘Course, I’m not from any-where-close-to-NYC….
So we really don’t see much of that where I roam. I might just stare. I might instinctively womp them a good one up side the head when their attention was involved elsewhere. Yes I might….not sayin’ it would be advisable, but I just might cuz I’d hope someone would do the same for me. ….and I’d be using a cane and can swing from a stable stance. {and I’ve had quite a lot of other training….tho against a gun, it wouldn’t turn out well} I also have a ‘stadium voice’ that can sometimes have an affect {worked with teens…} ….tho apparently not in NYC?? [don’t BE there!]
Anyway, if a granny like me jumps in….around here I believe others would back me up. Well….around here, if I wanted to do some womping, I’d have to claw my way to the front, I think.
At the least, do folks just turn their phone cameras toward the guy’s face so police have a record? One can do that rather inconspicuously. Right? Maybe some did?
I like low population density locations…..NOT guarantee of safety. We have murders here. Nasty bad one recently. But they make headlines for months!
Ladies [of ANY AGE] please do learn self-defense!!!! You learn attitude and prevention and attentiveness, as well as technique. (I learned and taught…long ago.)
OldMtWoman ….I do worry that I LOOK vulnerable at this point….even if I’m not as much as I look.

As someone who actually lived in NYC James is totally correct though he forgets to add that the police themselves are another factor, look up the Bernhard Goetz case. In fact I consider living in NYC before Guilliani became mayor to be good SHTF training for WROL, not sure how it is like under the present mayor though I do still get the impression it is milder than it was.

Good reason to keep bear mace in hand. I have that plus a stun gun. Never had that problem here. But also I would think those that did nothing to help this lady should also be held responsible. For no one to stop this guy and throw him off train is beyond me.
