It’s a failure of the generation that raised them.
It’s still possible to lift them up and show them the right path.
I’ve got a guy I’m working with on being a homesteader who more than once has stated “I don’t do that” to which my reply is “you do now cause your in this up to your neck” and then I make him work alongside of me doing so.I get mad bout it and I kick, cuss n spit but pretty sure it’s doing right so “always forward”.
I saw the change in the late 80s where embracing the technology and the world easy path was not only acceptable it was almost high school peer pressure like to do so and doing as little as possible was the goal and it transferred right into parenting. It created failures who then in turn raised failures who now don’t even know what they are and can’t define anything.
Toxic Masculinity isn’t bad when your a man of trade that is capable. Whether your an expert craftsman or Jack of all and master of none is doesn’t matter as it is what makes the world go round. Those with degrees after 10 years of college in basket weaving ain’t getting it done and building what we’ve had, got and will have.
Lift those up that you can and kick those that refuse in the a.. so they know where they stand with the rest of us.

ParticipantUnfortunately , it works both ways . The reason America can no longer compete internationally , in quite a few industries , is because we are still back in the 80’s , and have not modernized . We are backward for a country of this type . Our way of doing things should be closer to Japan , but instead , we are closer to Mexico , where too many things are manual . Other areas , we are still able to compete , or top dog ……………but after the pandemic , our way of doing things is proving to be obsolete in many ways . In other words , we rested on our laurels too long .

ParticipantAnother aspect , that has been growing slowly pre pandemic , is what has been called ” The great resignation ” . Post pandemic , its at full steam . There is no labor shortage . People ( mainly the younger generation ) doesnt want to go back to business as usual . What they want is a four day work week , and/ or flexible hours . Now weather or not we agree with it , thats part of what they consider some of the obsolescence . The 8 hours per day / 40 a week was set up to help the millions of newly discharged people , coming home from WW2 ! returning to the work force . That was over 70 years ago . Put in place for a country and needs of an America of 70 years ago …………….much has changed , the needs of both the nation , and its people are no longer the same . They want something that reflects the needs of Today . All those 3rd world immigrants they keep importing to fill the gaps is not working either . They are not stupid , when they get here , and look around , they figure out , that they dont have to do all those tasks , that they have options . They take the options , and the dinosaur industry , is back to square one . Again , weather or not we agree with it , we are in a transition . They eventually will win , for simple sake of , they will eventually be in charge as time goes on . Time wil tell if that turns out to be good or bad , right now , its disrupting the hell out of everything . Hold tight , and roll with it as best we can , because the next twenty years may be a wild ride .
