    Wow!

The question I want to know is what was the child ‘s temp at the time of the police kicking down the door.

Guess we will not know that answer. I just cannot believe that a doctor would pull a stunt like that. I really think the parents would know what is best for their children. If temp had broken, I wouldn’t have gone to ER either. This sounds like a case of our rights being taken away little by little.

kinda reminds me of this. Medical kidnapping at the Mayo clinic

Teen accuses Mayo Clinic of ‘medical kidnapping’

At a recent docs appointment. The receptionist wanted to take my picture, stating it was for security reasons. I declined. Then I was given a depression questionnaire form, which I handed back blank.I was tempted to put in a line that said. I get sad when I have to fill out stupid depression questionnaires.
I figured it was something big pharma made up and subsequently find a reason to prescribe ant-depressant meds.

    Ours asks:

“Do you feel safe in your home?”

“Do you have guns in your home?”

    I dutifully answer yes to the first one and no to the second one.  {roll eyes}

I doubt any individual doc office or clinic would ask these invasive questions but they accept federal $ and follow mandates.

YEAH…IT WILL SAVE LIVES IF WE ASK THESE QUESTIONS, RIGHT?  [cue…. newbie political brats jumping up and down with dewy-eyed enthusiasm…and the old ones smiling private nasty smiles]

My doctors talk with us about our hunting season, so that’s a non issue.

The one time I was asked that in an emergency room, I was literally taking my gun belt and uniform shirt off.

I just stared at the idiot and waited for the actual Doctor to arrive.

But my favorite comeback is “When did you stop molesting the neighbor kids?”

Can’t remember ever been asked if I had guns in the house, but I’m always prepared for it, knowing that some do ask that nanny-state question.  I have been asked when taking a hearing test if I ever fired guns.  Mostly I’m asked by the nurse plunking on the laptop prior to the doctor entering if I have felt depressed lately and/or have entertained thoughts of harming myself.

After all that software and computer records, I always have to answer the same questions over and over again that I had answered previously.

“Oh, I would be happy to answer your questions… just first please provide me with written documentation from your malpractice insurance provider, as well as a written statement from the medical director, that there has never been a single medical error, a HIPPA violation, and especially a malpractice suit filed against this facility or any of its practitioners. Once I have that in hand, I will gladly provide all the detailed answers you’d like.”

    That should shut ’em up.

Actually, based on the two links I will place below, the following seem to be good options:
    1) Are you a firearms safety instructor, or been provided with formal training beyond JAMA articles and AMA policy statements? If so please explain your qualifications in this area.
    2) Do you counsel patients to not be gay, because they have a higher rate of HIV infection? (please note that as a fairly libertarian guy, I have no problem AT ALL with homosexuality, I only use this example because it will likely put the liberal physician on his heels. If anyone has a better “equivalence” scenario, please let me know).
    3) Firearms ownership is a civil right, what legal training do you have in civil liberties?
    4) Hmmm… I see… well this sounds like a “boundary violation”, perhaps you should rethink your questionnaire in order to avoid future lawsuits.
