    Very true , all those big monstrosity houses you see back east , were designed for multi-families in mind . Its not just the younger generation , but the old as well used to live that way .

  True on both counts.
  I sometimes wonder if society as a whole would not be better if multi-generation families still lived together. The grandparents helping raise the gandkids if the parents have to work.
  
  But then I think of having to live with my FIL . . . ah, NO.
