ParticipantI hope it’s ok I did this. I didn’t see an October thread.
Been a couple of weeks without rain here. Cooler temps; nights in low to mid 50s (with the occasional 48). Been working on getting the fall/winter garden ready. Have an elderly that I’ve been helping out, as well as a friend that has cellulitis in her leg. Hope everyone is doing well.

ParticipantSo not much with hurricane Ian; my place had down branch. There were a few trees a stop sign or 2 and debris in my town. Yard waste is picked up weekly here.
Kale seedlings are coming up nicely. Slow start to the spinach though, ( should have waited another month when the temps are cooler)
Also have new Everglades tomato seedlings; and the ones that came up earlier are thriving-nice and bushy.
No more terra cotta pots; as they hold in too much heat. The Okinawa spinach in those were fussy; vs the ones in the plastic pots which are thriving with little care.

We had a cold front come in, with some records broken around the state. The low here was 59 which is unheard of in October ( this more like January temps).Back up to the 80s tomorrow.

ParticipantIf you need storage shelves, check out Woot. They have some Origami folding ones for a great price. I have 2 different types of them already and they are pretty good.
Car went into the shop and the mechanic said it wasnt worth fixing. It still runs, but its days are numbered.
Still pretty warm here temps wise. The everglades tomatoes have flowers on them. Yard long beans are slowly creeping up.

Participant7” of snow yesterday and our almost new, city friendly snow blower is not up for the job. I’m not getting any younger and don’t want to wind up face down in the snow. It might be time to invest in a better solution.

ParticipantStill in the 80s here. Going to drop down to the upper 70s next week. Got a raincoat for under $50 at Columbias black friday sale. My poor Marmot was on its last legs.
A root canal treated molar snapped off. Just got a new crown on it a few months ago. Right now its being prepped for an implant. Had the roots removed and a bone graft put in. The one week check up looked good. I go in next month for another check up.
Lots of reorganizing, donating and throwing things in the trash right now.

ParticipantDriving home last night it was -8F, brr! I went to take a bath about 2AM and the water was cold, my furnace had kicked out out again due to frost buildup in the firebox air intake. I cleaned out the frost and everything was honky-dory, but I’d have been chilly by morning if I didn’t catch it by chance.
