OldMtWoman..glad to be here. Love forums. Don’t do FB. Grew up on farm in MidWest with Grparents who did it the old way. Actually, we ALL did it the old way to some extent! I remember outhouses! Have also run into them a time or two since…
Lived in various diverse places. Currently….like Winter…living in High Country Rockies. Winter – did you get that ZERO DEGREE temperature a couple nights ago? Ach, too early! Turned our late season GOLDEN aspens to dirt brown. 🙁
So…I’ve been a “boy scout” type since childhood. Carried SAK since the times when pulling it out to trim a broken fingernail wouldn’t cause half the population to wet themselves. :rolleyes: [I haven’t found the ‘smilies’ yet but maybe an ‘old’ code will work?] Know a lot about wildfire EVAC…unfortunately. Horses, Nigie milk goats, waterfoul 😉 , XXL dog. Got unhappy ducks now that pond has frozen.
DH and I are getting to the age when things have to go a bit differently. Plenty of head-scratching and trying to adapt to even more challenges of older years. Hmph…just when ya get it figured out….

Welcome, Old MT Woman. I, too, know more about wildfire evacuations that I wish I did. I’m so glad you’ve joined us. We’re working on some things to help us out with smilies, ratings, and easier profile photos. 🙂 Lots of experimenting!

We don’t usually have frozen ponds here…at least not longer than a day or two every 3rd winter. We used to joke that heaven was a local call( back in the day of pay phones)
My wife and I both find ourselves scratching out heads about things going on. Saw your post and had a head nod of understanding. -
Thanks, Daisy…SwampFox. Local call…LOL! We’re in boonies – no cell towers so we STILL have “long distance” fees.
Daisy, I read your wildfire account….just brings CHILLS cuz I saw that too. Each time… {shudder} Some “dress rehearsals” are not fun, even if educational.
