Molasses Nut Cookies
½ cup shortening
½ cup brown sugar
2/3 cup molasses
¾ cup nuts
1 ½ cups flour
1 cup barley flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon cloves
1 ¼ ginger
1 egg
Cream the shortening and add molasses and nuts
Sift together dry ingredients and add gradually to the first mixture, stirring constantly. Add egg beaten until thick and lemon tinted.
Mix thoroughly, drop from the tip of a spoon on a well greased pan ½ inch apart. Bake 15 minute in moderate oven. Makes 3 dozen
