Howdy!
23 Year old American expat living in Sweden. I do seasonal work at a remote tourism station in the far north and am currently working on getting my drivers license (very difficult and expensive here) so I can get a car and be more mobile. Don’t plan on buying land or paying rent soon, will be buying a 5m Bell tent and wood stove along with some portable camp furniture and see more of Sweden and central Europe without blowing through my savings on hostels and restaurants like most people. Long term plan is buy a plot of land and build a semi-permanent yurt/cabin until I have the material and money to build a proper house.
Capable outdoorsman and diy-er, make as much of my own equipment as I can. Do a lot of hiking/backpacking but my passion is ski touring in the high alpine plains in the north. Taught me a lot about prepping and preparedness in general. Dehydrating food, weighing in equipment, having a thorough first aid kit and knowing how to use it, equipment maintenance, stripping down to the basics of food, shelter and warmth, living in -30C for days on end and being 100km from the nearest road.
Started prepping after hurricane Sandy in 2012. My high school was used as an emergency shelter, after the people staying there went home there were 2 full pallets of MREs in the basement, FEMA said “we don’t care” and the principal let students take them, worked with a friend to get a few boxes home, around 50 meals each. And things have snowballed from there.

I want to attend the classes in Robertsfors but life seemed to conspire to keep me away from both of them thus far and I’m in the south for the next month, but I will not be dissuaded and you’ll see me there at some point.
