My son came up with several soy oil barrels. A sticky residue mess to clean out. I used a power washer along with some Dawn and finalized it with Clorox.
Seems every used food grade barrel comes with challenges. Pickle barrels I used 1/2 bag of pool shock to clean them out and remove the smell.
I am still trying to work on ways to store water and where to put it. I do have enough containers right now that I can store up to about 3 to 400 gallons so far. I need to get my well pump hooked back up also. Had to disconnect it so the new driveway could go in. Yes, it was that bad. We had a cave in. Cement it seems only last about 50 years before it goes to pieces. You could bounce on it and it would cave. At least it got done before the car fell through.
400 is pretty good littlesister. I’m at 600 and bumping up. I’m looking at a dozen known showing up. Nearest fresh source is 1/4 to 1/2 mile. I’m hoping I’m on the right path in numbers.
2 IBC totes sitting up on 2 concrete blocks high. Ones got a water hose attachment. Military jugs, jugs with spigots, open top pickle barrels, closed barrels with non potable toilet flush water only etc for smaller sections. I’ve got some in the storm shelter, outside and inside.
