By looking at what was rationed during both world wars, and the recipes used to stretch what was available we can get an idea of things we may need more of in our food inventories that we previously thought.

Honey Doughnuts by Mrs G C Rhetta

1 cup honey, add ½ cup milk, 1 well beaten egg, 1 tablespoon of melted butter, 1/8 teaspoon salt, ¼  teaspoon baking soda, 2 teaspoons baking powder sifted with 1 cup of flour, add more flour enough to roll. Roll out ½ inch cut with doughnut cutter and fry in hot oil

That’s true, OldGoat!  Think we’ll ever see ration books again?  Or are we less civilized for adapting to such privation in an orderly manner?

OldMtWoman  ….making quite a file with these recipes…thanks!

Yes I do think we will see rationing again at some point. Sorry I didn’t see this sooner
