I thought it was an interesting read.
What kind of hobbies do people have nowadays?
How many can sit at the bar of a popular chain restaurant, strike up a conversation with the person sitting next to them?
When you go to a party, do you see people actively engaged in conversations? Or is it the same conversation over and over again?

Ask them what they want to do on day off and most will not know other than text on phone or surf Web.
Have some 20ish workers and they are amazed that our tribe does so much as group many want to feel part of a family like that because they don’t get it else where. Since farming there is no real Monday to Friday as such we have atleast one tribe day where all but the few required go and do something. The few changes each time or volenteer. There is a bag and everyone either puts in paper with thing they want or if don’t know place nothing then a person draws and we do event next day if practical… we have had someone put in swimming in winter…. Yeah no…
They love the group dynamic as each person helps with things in thier own way, it is split somewhat sexist lines but that is by choice. Less men in food prep less women In loading trucks. Seats are a lottery unless your birthday is that month then you get to choose or switch with someone else.
I have asked some of the seasonal workers to choose one of 10 things we are set up for. There where 6 of them and I left it for 2 days ….when I reached in to choose the paper with event on it there was not one…..
When they first come and stay at bunk house many are horrified that there is bunk beds and little privacy other than in bathrooms. Many do not even know basic food prep ot animal husbandry and we take students from vet / ag course at big city University.
