Apparently “counterprotesters” have been stabbing MAGA people. Rumor has it that 3 Percenters and Oathkeepers are fixin’ to step in.

There’s the potential for things to get really bad there tonight.

I’ve yet to figure out why people are going to these things thinking they aren’t gonna be in a fight. Taking kids, wearing shorts n flip flops and allowing the opposition to approach them.
They better wake up before they take the asphalt temperature challenge and get their families offed too.

I am sure it is orchestrated and paid for by George Soros. Donald Trump has done a lot to help this country and much more. But our public schools have dumbed our kids down and now won’t teach history in schools, but teaching our daughters that they should become boys and our sons to become girls and confusing them at such an early age. And they wonder why kids are so depressed. Then in the colleges they are teaching them that socialism is the greatest thing since ice cream and that the government will take care of them. They have done nothing but rot the brains of our children so long that now this is the result of those action. They have removed God from the public schools but islom is ok. They must have there prayer time in school and it is demanded they do in CA. Not sure of other states. But Christian children cannot have prayer. For a while they could go to a flag pole to pray but that was all. They are out to destroy America as we know it. Biden and his hunchbacks stole the election and the media is still covering it up. They are trying to do everything they can to block Trump from exposing the voter fraud that has taken place. Even if he losses, he has exposed the left for what they really are. Greed and power is what they are after and it will be at the expense of we the people. It is time to stand up and take action but that is not happening. At least not yet. Civil war is going to come and it won’t be good.

{sigh}   This old woman goes by the motto:  Don’t Be There.  The support is likely appreciated but quiet marches after the example of MLK Jr.  just don’t seem to be possible now for anything political.  On the other hand, MLK’s marches were violent too, but not from his marchers…from those opposing his message.  I remember watching those.

Hopefully the families were off the streets after dark.

OldMtWoman  …hurts to watch this  🙁

    Crazy.

    And not good.

Of those who did vote, it is nearly 50/50. One half hates the other.
Like in 2016, but the Trump supporters this time, they feel the election was stolen from them. But this time, each side is willing to take action.

I am beginning to think it will never end, no matter who wins the election. Once they start stripping our rights away, taking our guns and shutting down the churches and suppressing our religious freedoms, freedom of speech and anything else they can think of such as destroying this country. You will see the civil wars begin.  The left is already fighting for government to give them everything they want on a silver platter. The right is going to be a bit late but will come out in full force. Think I will need to find me a nice quiet island somewhere till it is all over.

I read this thread a couple times. I heard a bit of “don’t be there” and don’t rock the boat plus an understanding of what has been happening. I had that silent mindset for a while, but I am also the person that can’t let stand by while our freedoms are stripped. I have decided to chose my battles carefully, but I can’t sit idly by.

I agree that there is a very chance that we are heading to violent times, including a possible civil war. I can’t believe I am writing this. Even if Trump concedes etc, freedoms will continue to be stripped away and this situation will fester to a point that puts rural areas against urban.

When my children were younger, I was that hippie mom who took her children to protests. We marched for the local schools not to be consolidated. We went to a protest against an industrial chicken farm coming to our rural area. They went with me when I spoke at March Against Monsanto in Ottawa. We went to a pro-State of Jefferson secession rally in California.

I always thought I was teaching them to exercise their right to be heard. That we have to do something when we see things we feel are wrong instead of standing idly by. That it was our responsibility.

But never, ever, would I do the same thing today. Just over the past five years, things have changed so much I would take a child or teenager to any of these events, no matter how peaceful our own intentions were. Putting your kids in danger like this is insane and anyone who has watched ANY news on ANY network has to be aware of the risks.

I wouldn’t presume to tell anyone what to do with their own lives, but I will say that if you choose to go to a rally, march, or protest, you should go prepared to fight your way out.

Daisy, I also would go to protest and rallies but back then it was safer to do so. What is going on today is a whole different ball game.  I am elderly now and not able to do any of that now. I think even if I could, I wouldn’t do it and for sure not take a child into something like what has happened in DC where they might be hurt or worse.  There are many other ways to show support and I did have 4 signs in my yard supporting Trump/Pence. One sign was stolen. Go figure. Hope it was a Trump supporter.

Loving Life, If you were rereading my post above, I think you may have misjudged my post. There was no rock the boat nor don’t be there in it like you state. I am elderly and couldn’t go to those protest even if I wanted to.  My DH is disabled and I am also stuck home. There are many ways to support someone without going to these protest and such. I do a lot of praying and Bible reading. I am not happy with Church closers and what a Biden administration is going to do.  This country is going to hell in a hand basket and it won’t look good for Christians. I am tired and can’t believe anything on TV anymore. Thus, go to an island somewhere nice and quiet till it is over and I can relax while everything I have ever stood for falls apart. The constitution is about to be destroyed as we know it if biden wins

I would always be careful taking children to any of these protests as I have seen how these situations escalate. I witnessed the spring/summer issues in Philadelphia. Having marched in various protests, these recent protests are not like those of the past. These protests get violent very quickly. The protests have professionals behind certain of them and are thoroughly planned. In Philadelphia, numerous buses were parked outside the City; these buses had sleeping bunks and numerous premade signs.

Littlesister, I would continue praying. I didn’t mean to read anything in just your post, I was adding from my recent experience. I am happy to see you understand the issue. I am very worried. Too many people are playing ostrich with the head in the sand and believe everything on the news. Be careful and stay safe.

Loving life I am right there with you on the worrying part. Never would have thought things would get this bad. But seems when Donald Trump took office, that was when I started noting things like just how far left the Dems had gone. I know what the Bible says about all these things coming to be. But though I keep my faith in the Lord it is still scary to know what is going to take place in the coming months and years. The election was stolen. There is no other way Biden could have won. And now he is getting his cabinet together, it will really be bad. He will pardon his son and all the other criminals in his cabinet. the crime will be much worse and we will become  like China. China owns Biden and his son. And they have the gull to say that Russia helped Trump to win. Our tax dollars has done nothing but line the pockets of the thieves.  They this time will take our retirement, steal even more from social security and Medicare. I don’t need them to support me and want them out of my business. What I do with my life is not their affair.

If Donald Trump does nothing else, he has shown the world what the Democraps are. A bunch of lying, thieving, stealing …..better leave it at that. You get the idea.

I agree that this a dilemma that’s increasing, Loving Life.  How to stand for something but not be foolishly engulfed in violence that will not hear you anyway.  🙁   Not only physical violence but like in another thread, being verbally…possibly legally attacked …just for stating an opposing opinion.  Professional suicide is all too easy to do….just wearing the wrong color of shirt one day might do it.

I think things are so off the rails right now, I’m not sure any public forum can be even heard clearly by any opposing side.  Either side.  So what IS still possible?

I’d say personal relationships with other mature adults.  Me and she or he SHOULD be able to find some common ground if we’re discussing calmly as friends in our own circles.  If not, why try it?

OldMtWoman …how much have we lost already…if we cannot communicate as friends?

OldMtWoman. Littlesister. I hear and feel you. We can meet as friends. It is so sad today, the hate is so severe. We can pray. We cannot lose hope that this country will get through this. What we don’t want to admit is that this situation may get very very ugly. All of us are in different circumstances and must adapt our responses to our own life circumstances.

I’ve been hearing about more violence in this case than was initially reported.  [ no surprise there]  I’ve been hearing folks say that conservative marches should be done in MLK style – NO violence allowed.  Even in self-defense.  I’m old enough to have watched that take place in real time. Very brave folks!  Ultimately, I think the zero-violence factor spoke to some folks that would have otherwise not heard their message.

Any thots on how it does/does not apply now?

OldMtWoman…..only marching I plan to do is down my gravel road with dog but I would support MLK- type movement

I hate to say it, but I think violence is inevitable.
The MLK like march not a bad idea, but I dont think people have the discipline to stand or lay on the ground and take a beating.

Does not bode well when one half of the country thinks the other half are neo-nazi, white supremacists and use that to justify their violence.
